A little bit about me!

At a young age I had two goals in life, one was to be a Marine and the second was to become a police officer. So before graduation I signed the dotted line and once I got my high school diploma I left for boot camp.
Yes, I was a "Hollywood Marine" because I grew up in the State of Wisconsin which meant I was heading to San Diego MCRD. My military career was cut short due to a training accident that crushed my ribs. That was devastating to me because I wanted to give my country 20 years.
So now I just realized my law enforcement career was going to start earlier than expected. So less than a month after my 21st birthday I was hired on by a county sheriff's department in middle Tennessee.
I began in corrections because I knew I had to earn a shot at becoming a P.O.S.T. certified deputy. After 2 years of working corrections I was sent to the police academy. It was an exciting 8 weeks of my life and I truly enjoyed the experience.
Once I graduated from the police academy I was assigned to court security and then transportation. I used this time to take a deeper dive into the criminal laws and how to become a better officer on the stand. I would get the ADA's to train me on how to build a solid case and complete mock trials. (This training would later work to my benefit years later in a high profile case)
I then started working for a city police department in middle Tennessee which was 16 years of my career. My role as a city officer was a patrol officer which later promoted to a shift supervisor. These early years was also when I got certified as a field training officer, and the love to teach and train began.
This city agency had a lot of issues for being such a small department, but it did lead to a lot of good training. I was able to attend training in fields we didn't even have at the agency. It was then I focused my training on active shooter and S.W.A.T. training, and I threw in investigation training as well.
I decided it was best for me to change departments and be closer to home. My wife had told me about a sheriff's department that had a good sheriff running the department and I should apply. And then the rest is history...
I started working patrol to learn the players and the county. Got promoted to field training officer which was great for me because it brought me back to training. I then got promoted to the rank of detective/sergeant and I currently holding this role.
But I am able to take part in many roles in this department. I earned a spot on the S.W.A.T team as a sniper. My active shooter training has allowed me to train many churches in the community, businesses of all size, and provide security assessments on their properties. I am also assigned to train patrol and school resource officer's in active shooter field. I have earned a spot on the departments firearms instructor team and train all personal.
On top of all this I am able to go outside the department and continue my education in the field of firearms and safety.
So this is a long breakdown of my training, knowledge, and experience which I want you to know if you are looking for someone to train you and your team.
As trainers you can earn your certificate and never expanded your knowledge or we can continue to grow and pass our knowledge down to others. Now days it's to easy for someone to earn a firearm's instructor title or a active shooter/threat instructor title. What you as a potential client/student need to look for is the experience the instructor brings with him or her.
